Potty Power

Katelynn is now officially potty trained! We have been wearing panties since her and Dan got back from Minnesota and the last couple of weeks have been great. Dan pretty much told her that she could not pee or poop in the Corvette on the ride to Minnesota and she listened, she wanted to make sure that she could go with on the ride. They stopped at gas stations on the way there and she wanted to impress all of her relatives that she could use the potty. We are very proud of our little girl. When she got home I let her know that if she could wear panties all 3 days (it was a 3 day weekend) that she could have the potty power trophy that she has been coveting for quite some time. So, here we are over our latest milestone. My little girl is growing up. These pictures are from the night that I gave her the trophy - you can see her happiness shining and her shear joy of it.

Ex-Viking Scott accused of holding bag over 2-year-old son's head

Okay, so I had to post this article I just read on ESPN.com. Normally, I don't care what the Vikes or any football player does, it's their life and as long as they do their job and play good football, to each their own, I say. But this, this has me upset, who in their right mind would put a bag over a child's head just to see if they could get out of it. I hope that we do not represent this player after this.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Former Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Darrion Scott was charged Tuesday with assault and accused of holding a plastic dry cleaning bag over the head of his 2-year-old son.
Scott was charged in Hennepin County Court with third-degree assault and domestic assault by strangulation, both felonies. He also was charged with endangerment of a child -- a gross misdemeanor -- for allegedly keeping a loaded, unsecured handgun in his unlocked nightstand, where a 2-year-old could have easy access to it.
According to the complaint, the boy's mother said she went to Scott's home on April 26 to pick the boy up when she heard the boy crying and found him with a dry cleaning bag over his head and Scott holding the bag tight around the boy's neck. Scott said he was playing with the child and wanted to see if the boy could get the bag off his head himself.
The boy's mother reported the incident to child protection and photographed red marks she saw on the boy's neck, the complaint said.
The mother also reported that Scott brought the boy to her home at the end of March or early April and asked to bathe him to get the boy ready for bed. The woman said Scott had never before bathed the boy in her home. Scott dressed the boy in long pajamas, and the next morning the woman noted that the boy had marks on his arm and ear that appeared to be burns, the complaint said.
The woman said she asked Scott what happened and he said he didn't know how the boy was injured. A doctor examined the boy and reported the marks appeared to be intentionally inflicted and were consistent with either a burn or impact injury, the complaint said.
In February or March, the complaint said, the boy came home from Scott's with three lumps on his forehead. According to the complaint, Scott told the boy's mother that he and the boy were doing a "victory dance" when the boy's head hit the wood frame of a sofa. Scott acknowledged throwing the child in the air to celebrate the boy's use of the toilet and that the boy fell and hit his head, the complaint said.
Scott was arrested last week after police searched his Eden Prairie town house. He remains in jail, with bond set at $100,000. His first court appearance is scheduled Wednesday.
A call to Scott's attorney, Bruce Rivers, at his Minneapolis office was not immediately returned Tuesday.
Scott's agent, Tim DiPiero, said he's been in touch with Scott's parents in West Virginia who are "naturally upset and appalled" by the charges.
"Anyone who knows Darrion knows him to be a big 'teddy bear' type of guy, easygoing and never loud or abusive. We believe this nightmare is a terrible mistake and that the child has not been abused, at least not by Darrion," DiPiero said in an e-mail.
Scott, 26, is a free agent after spending the past four seasons with the Vikings. He was placed on injured reserve after four games last season with a broken foot.

Used to a Routine of Busyness?

Dan and Katelynn have been gone for almost a week, ah the days that I used to dream (and probably complain a little) about having the house to myself, just for a little while. After 2 years of this dream, I think I meant only for 1 day and 1 night. I cannot believe how bored I have been since they have been gone. The first night I of course cleaned the house, which has stayed clean the entire week, amazing. I am not used to really watching TV anymore, especially during the summer when there isn't anything on anyways. Friday night I watched a movie, Saturday I read an entire book from start to finish (thank you Verna for recommending "Mistaken Identity" - very good book and hard to put down). I watched TLC most of the day and cleaned out some more clothes from my closet, that about sums up Saturday. Sunday, I did my usual grocery shopping (saved 55% of my bill!) and then went shopping for new cushions for our patio furniture, watched Lifetime the rest of the day and that about sums up Sunday. Wow, what a boring life I lead without my husband and child to, dare I say, keep me entertained, instead of the other way around ? I have been so lazy, Monday it was back to work and then I did another night of nothing but playing on the Internet. I did call Dan this morning and told him, it's time for my husband and daughter to come home Wednesday, a week away is long enough. I even mowed the lawn tonight when I got home from work, I don't think I have done this for 2 or 3 years (maybe even 4 or 5, it's Dan's job). So, here I sit again in front of the computer, I should be working on some bookwork or doing that last load of laundry that I threw in the wash a couple of days ago, but really I am just going to sit and wait for the 2 people in my life that cause me run around like a mad person, playing, cleaning and entertaining them, because I guess that is what I miss.
