A massive tornado ravaged Northern Colorado on Thursday, killing at least one person, injuring 13, and destroying dozens of homes and farms as it ripped a 35-mile swath that cut directly through Windsor.
The tornado was three-quarters of a mile wide and had estimated wind speeds of at least 158 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
They stated the tornado was 3 miles from Milliken. My mom is in town visiting from Minnesota and had called me at work and said our entire backyard was white with baseball size hail balls, it's been a little crazy. Dan's truck was outside and has some serious hail damage and we need to have our house looked at to see if there is any major damage to the roof and shingles, but all in all we still have a house and we are all safe. Pleasantly surprised the insurance company has been on top of things and very understanding about the entire ordeal and has been calling all morning setting up appts. and estimates and re-assuring us that everything is going to be good again, (I hope they are giving this plus some to any of the resident in Windsor who have entirely lost their homes). We didn't have electricity last night (but we do have a generator that was on), but a neighbor called as I was leaving for work this morning and said power had been restored, so maybe when we feel safe to turn the computer back on at home I will get some pictures attached. A couple are attached from a local website.
